Following the success of their impromptu visit to the Circle's BBQ last summer at which members and guests were treated to some superb music by the Fine Whines Jazz, their return for the annual theme evening contributed largely to the success of the event. The party, which attracted well over 100, including guests from Nailsea, Bridgwater and Mendip Circles, had been planned for January but due to the uncertainty of the weather it had been decided to postpone the event until April, a move favoured by the committee for future years.
The theme was “Black & White”, the hall being bedecked with bunting, balloons and silhouettes of a musical theme. Many guests, dressed in innovative costumes, added to the atmosphere. The evening included dancing, competitions, a two course meal and free punch.
A special Heads and Tails competition for six bottles of superb French wine selected and donated by the Circle’s honorary member who lives in Brittany raised £113 for Help for Heroes.
Almost a full house greeted Paul Bowers from Gosport in November for a generous tasting of liqueurs and whisky, including one from Wales.
The tasting was hosted by Hebridean Liqueurs, most of which were whisky based and one brandy based.
The wide selection tasted gave members the opportunity to stock up for themselves and to buy Christmas presents, all at very reasonable prices.
